In this video, we demonstrate how to replace the Solid-State Drive (SSD) in an Inspiron or Vostro 3030 Desktop Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. Turn off your computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals.
To begin, loosen the screws that secure the left-side cover to the chassis. Holding the tab on the cover, slide and remove it from the chassis. Place the computer horizontally. You can either have an M.2 2230 or 2280 SSD installed in your system. The process is the same for both. Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the system board. Next, slide and lift it from the M.2 card slot on the system board.
Before installing the new SSD, check if the screw mount is in the correct location for the form factor of your new SSD To change the location of the screw mount, remove the screw mount from one location and move it to the other. To install the SSD, align the notch on the SDD with the tab on the M.2 card slot and slide it in at an angle.
