This video will demonstrate the Protection procedure to the Cloud using Avamar Demo for the Cloud Disaster Recovery.
Hi, I'm Emily Person from Dell Technologies. In this video, I am going to show you how to protect your virtual machines to the cloud using the A R web user interface. This AAR server has a V center configured and Linux and Windows. VM. Click on backup policy, expand the V center's domain and click on the virtual machine, sub domain. Then click add, provide a policy name and make sure there is a proxy on the list. Click next, select the V MS you want to protect and click next.
You'll need to use a data set that protects the Linux or Windows using vmware image plug-in and stores them on a power protect DD system. We'll create a new data set for windows V MS. The local protection target is the DD system. Click next, use any schedule and click next configure the local retention. Meaning when files will be deleted from the local DD system. Click next, if there is a CD R connected to this alpha server, the cloud dr tab will be available, enable the cloud Dr option for this policy and select the cloud Dr target from the list.
You can add additional cloud DR targets from the CD R in the cloud account tab configure the cloud retention that can be different from the local backup retention. The last value configures the ALA and cloud copies older than this value will be displayed on the cloud server. Click next and then click finish. The policy will run based on the schedule and you can also manually select the policy and click run the activity page shows the protection status. And after the local backup is created and saved on the DD system, the CD R will copy the files to the cloud dr target. Use the CD R A to find your cloud server address and open it in a new browser tab.
The asset protection page shows the VM you configure in the AAR policy. Use this page to configure individual VMS for rapid recovery. When the next cloud copy arrives, it will be rewritten and converted into a S A or Azure discs and stored on your cloud account. This allows you to recover the VM in seconds. Select the amount of rapid recovery copies to keep between one and five. When the limit is reached new, rapid recovery copies will override the whole list. When the cloud protection begins, the upload status column will indicate the progress. When the upload status changes to succeeded, you'll be able to recover this VM.
