Welcome to Dell Technologies Data Domain - How to Series. How to split and download core file using DD GUI on DDOS 7.x. Reference Dell Knowledge Base Article # 182033 This video was created to: Demonstrate how to identify the core dump files on a Data Domain. And to show how to split and download core files using DD System Manager on DDOS 7.0 and later. Let's begin. Log in to the "Data Domain System Manager" using admin credentials. Navigate to "Maintenance". Click "Support". And then click on "Cores". Click on "Created On" to sort that column.
Click on the core "File Name" to begin download. In some cases, the core file size may be huge and may cause inconvenience in uploading to SR or FTP, and we may need to split it before downloading. In order to split the core file, select the checkbox beside the required core "File Name", and click on "Split". Select the appropriate "Size" to not exceed more than 20 chunks. You may sometimes see a timeout error while splitting a huge core file, but this still means that the split is running in the background. In that case, wait for 10 minutes and then refresh.
The split file name can be seen in format core name_total chunks.chunk number, and are stored along with the MD5 checksum on "dd_ddvar core chunks". Make sure that all chunks have been created before you begin downloading. Once confirmed, you can click on the split core file names to begin the download. The split chunks are automatically deleted in 48 hours.
However, best practice would be to select and delete the split files using the "Delete" option when your task is complete. Reference the following for more information: Dell Knowledge Base Article # 20621 Explaining how to generate a support bundle using DD GUI or DD Enterprise Manager.
