In this video, we show how to replace the Front Boss Module cable in a PowerEdge R670. In order to remove the Front Boss Module cable, you first need to remove the cover, backplane cover, and expansion card riser blank. To remove the cover, rotate the lock counterclockwise to unlock it. Lift the latch to release the cover, then remove it from the system.
To remove the drive backplane cover, slide it towards the back of the system and remove. To remove the riser blank, loosen the three captive screws holding it in place, then lift the blank out of the system.
To remove the front BOSS module cable, disconnect the BOSS module cable and unroute it. Press both ends of the cable retention holder and tilt it up. Then slide the BOSS cable back and lift it out of the system.
To install the front BOSS module cable, insert it at an angle and slide it forward into place. Then lower the cable retention holder to secure it. Route the BOSS cable and connect it. To install the riser blank align and place it into the system. Then tighten the three captive screws to secure it.
To install the backplane cover, align it on the system and slide it forward into place. To install the cover, align and place it on the system. Lower the latch, then rotate the lock clockwise to secure the cover. For more information or support about the PowerEdge R670, visit dell.com/Support.
