This video shows the process of removing and installing a backplane on a PowerEdge R760xs.
In this video, we show how to replace a back plane on a poweredge R 7 60 XS before removing a back plane read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. In order to remove the back plane, you must first remove the cover air shroud fan cage assembly, the drive back plane cover the perk module and any installed hard drives to remove the cover, use a screwdriver to rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlocked position.
Next lift the release latch, then lift the cover from the system to remove the air shroud, hold the air shroud at both ends and lift it out of the system to remove the fan cage assembly. Lift the blue release levers holding the release levers, lift it up and away from the system to remove the dry back blank cover, sigh it towards a rear and lift it away from the system to remove the perk module loosen the thumb screws, securing it in place, pull towards the back and lift it out of the system, then disconnect the data cables from the module to remove a hard drive, press the release button, holding the release handle, slide it out of the drive slot to remove the back plane, disconnect the power and data cables. Press the blue release tab to disengage it from the system.
Then lift it out of the system to install the back plane align it with the hooks on the system insert and lower until the tab clicks into place. Then reconnect the power and data cables to install a hard drive, slide it into the drive slot, then close release handle to lock it in place to install the perk module. Connect the data cables, place it in the slot and slide towards the front of the system. Then tighten the thumb screws to secure it in place to install the drive back plane cover align and lower into the system and slide it towards the front of the system to install the pan cage assembly align the guide rails with the standoffs on the system.
Then press the release levers to lock the assembly into the system to install the air shroud align it with the chassis and lower until firmly seated to install the cover align the system cover of the guide slots on the system and place it on the system next close a system cover release latch.
