How to Remove/Install Secondary Backplane on PowerEdge XE2420

Watch this video to learn how to remove and install the secondary backplane on the Dell EMC PowerEdge XE2420.
Prerequisites Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instruction. Power off the system and all attached peripherals. Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet, and disconnect the peripherals. If applicable, remove the system from the rack. If installed, remove the front bezel cover. Remove the system cover.
Removing the drive carrier: Press the release button to open the drive carrier release handle. Holding the drive carrier release handle, slide the drive carrier out of the drive slot. NOTE To avoid damaging the backplane, ensure to move the control panel cables from the cable routing clips before removing the backplane. Disconnect all the cables that are connected to the backplane. NOTE Observe the routing of the cable as you remove it from the system.
Removing the backplane: Pull the plunger to disengage the drive backplane from the lock hole on the drive cage. Lift the drive backplane out of the drive cage.
Installing the drive backplane: Insert the backplane into the guides on the drive cage and lower the backplane until the plunger click into place. Reconnect all the disconnected cables to the backplane. Install all the drives.
Replace the system cover. If applicable, install the system into the rack. Reconnect the peripherals, and connect the system to the electrical outlet, and then power on the system. NOTE If front bezel is installed, then en route the external cables through the openings on the sides of bezel tray. If removed, install the front bezel cover.
