This video shows how to replace the M.2 2230 SSD on a Latitude 5350. Before you begin, turn off the computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the system. To enter service mode, press and hold the B key on the keyboard, then press the power button. Now the computer will boot up and the owner tag information is displayed on the screen. Press any key to proceed. The computer will emit three short beeps and shut down.
To begin, loosen the eight captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest assembly. Using a plastic scribe, pry open the base cover from the recesses near the hinges. Then lift the base cover off the palm-rest assembly. Ensure that your computer is in service mode. If your computer is unable to enter service mode, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Then press and hold the power button for five seconds to grab the computer and drain the flea power. Now remove the two screws that secure the SSD thermal plate to the system board. Lift the SSD thermal plate from the SSD. Lift the SSD holder and carefully release it from the hook to remove it. Slide and remove the SSD from the SSD slot.
You have successfully removed the M.2 2230 SSD. Now let's install the M.2 2230 SSD. Align the notch on the SSD with a tab on the SSD slot and slide it into the slot. Slide the SSD holder over the hook and press it down. Align the SSD thermal plate and firmly press to cover the SSD. Then replace the two screws that secure the SSD thermal plate to the system board. Next, since the battery is not a pre-requisite, if you have disconnected the battery cable, ensure to connect the battery cable. Align the screw holes on the base cover with the screw holes on the palm-rest assembly.
