This video will demonstrate replacement procedure of a System Battery for PowerEdge T40.
Prerequisites WARNING: There is a danger of a new battery exploding if it is incorrectly installed. Replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. For more information, see the safety information that shipped with your system.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system. Power off the system and attached peripherals. Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet, and disconnect the peripherals. Remove the system cover Lay the system on its side.
If applicable, disconnect the power or data cables from expansion card(s).
Removing the system battery Locate the battery socket. For more information, see the System board jumpers and connectors section. CAUTION: To avoid damage to the battery connector, you must firmly support the connector while installing or removing a battery. Use a plastic scribe to pry out the system battery.
Installing the system battery To install a new system battery, hold the battery with the positive side facing up and slide it under the securing tabs. Press the battery into the connector until it snaps into place.
If applicable, connect the cables to the expansion card(s). Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system. Install the system cover. Place the system upright on a flat, stable surface. Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet. Power on the attached peripherals and then power on the system.
While booting, press F2 to enter the System Setup and ensure that the battery is operating properly. Enter the correct time and date in the System Setup Time and Date fields. Exit the System Setup.
