How to Replace the RAM for PowerEdge C6220

This video will demonstrate the how to remove and install system memory on the PowerEdge C6220. Replace defective DIMM and/or expand system memory to increase memory capacity. Power down and remove the node from the enclosure. Before you begin: Remove cover, remove cooling shroud. Use static discharge mat and bracelet.

WARNING: The memory modules are hot to the touch for some time after the system has been powered down. Allow time for the memory modules to cool before handling them. Handle the memory modules by the card edges and avoid touching the components on the memory module.

CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.

Removing the Memory Modules:
Remove the system-board assembly. See “Removing a System-Board Assembly".
Remove the air baffle for 1U node. See “Removing the Air Baffle ”
When removing the memory module from the system equipped with the RAID battery assembly, remove the RAID battery assembly first. 
CAUTION: Handle each memory module only on either card edge, making sure not to touch the middle of the memory module. To avoid damaging components on the memory module, remove only one memory module at a time.

Simultaneously press down and out on the ejectors at both ends of the memory module socket until the memory module is released from the socket.
Lift the memory module out of the socket by contact only at the ends of the module.

Installing the Memory Modules:
Press down and out on the ejectors on each end of the memory module socket.
Align the memory module correctly with the alignment key of the memory module socket.
Press down firmly on the memory module with your thumbs until the module snaps into place.

CAUTION: Even pressure during insertion must be applied at both ends of the module simultaneously to prevent damage to the socket. No pressure should be applied to the center of the module. 

Complete the latching of the module into the socket by applying inward pressure to the socket ejectors to assure that the ejectors are in a locked position. When the memory module is properly seated in the socket, the ejectors on the memory module socket align with the ejectors on other identical sockets that have memory modules installed.
