How to Replace the System Board in a PowerEdge C6620

This video demonstrates how to Replace the System Board in a PowerEdge C6620.
In this video we show how to replace the system board on a PowerEdge C6620. Before removing the system board read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. For more information about safety guidelines, see the C6620 Service Manual at: Dell.com/support In order to remove the system board you must first remove the air shroud, expansion card riser 1, extended heatsink, extended heatsink riser, OCP, LOM, memory, m.2 riser, heastink and support bracket.
To remove the air shroud, press the blue clip and lift it. Then disconnect the air shroud hook from the slot on the chassis and remove it. To remove expansion card riser 1, remove the 3 screws that secure the riser to the chassis. Then lift the riser from the connector on the system board. To remove an extended heatsink, loosen the first captive nut three turns, then the opposite one, loosen the remaining nuts, and return the first and finish loosening it.
Next set the anti-tilt wires to the unlocked position. Then lift the processor and heatsink module away from the system. To remove the extended heat sink bracket, remove the 3 screws securing it to the chassis. Then lift the bracket out of the chassis. To remove the OCP card, open the blue latch to disengage it. Push the card toward the rear of the system to disconnect it from the system board. To remove the LOM, remove the screws that secure it to the system board. Then lift to disconnect it form the system board. To remove a memory module, press the ejectors on both ends.
Then, lift it away from the system. To remove the M.2 riser, loosen the screw that secures the riser to the chassis. Then holding the blue tag, lift the riser to disengage the riser from the connector on the system board. To remove a heatsink and CPU, loosen the first captive nut three turns, then the opposite one, loosen the remaining nuts, and return the first and finish loosening it. Next set the anti-tilt wires to the unlocked position.
Then lift the processor and heatsink module from the system. To remove the support bracket, remove the 3 screws securing it to the chassis. Then lift it away from the chassis. To remove the system board, remove the 5 screws and 4 hex nuts securing the system board to the chassis. Next slide the system board toward the front of the chassis to disengage the ports. Then tilt the system at an angle and lift it out of the chassis.
To install the system board, lower it at an angle into the chassis. Next slide it toward the rear of the chassis to engage the ports. Then tighten the 5 screws and 4 hex nuts to secure the system board to the chassis. To install the support bracket, align it with the slot on the chassis and lower it into place. Then tighten the 3 screws that secure it to the chassis. Remove the processor socket covers.
To install the Processor and heatsink, align the pin 1 indicator to the socket on the system board and then lower it into place. Next, set the anti tilt wires to the locked position. Then tighten the first nut three times, then the opposite one, tighten the remaining nuts, and return the first nut to tighten completely. To install the M.2 riser, align it with the standoff on the system board and insert until the riser is fully seated. Then tighten the screw that secures the it to the chassis To install a memory module align the edge connector with the alignment key of the socket, and insert it in the socket To install the LOM, align it with standoff on the system board and lower until firmly seated.
Then tighten the screws to secure it to the system board. To install the OCP card, slide the OCP card into the slot in the system. Push until the card to seat in the connector on the system board. Then close the latch to lock the OCP in place. To install the extended heat sink bracket, align it with the chassis and lower into place. Then tighten the 3 screws to secure it in place. To install the extended heatsink and CPU, align the pin 1 indicator to the socket on the system board and then lower it into place.
Next, set the anti tilt wires to the locked position. Then tighten the first nut three times, then the opposite one, tighten the remaining nuts, and return the first nut to tighten completely. To install expansion card riser 1, align the riser with the slot on the chassis and lower until firmly seated. Then tighten the three screws that secure the riser to the chassis.
