This video demonstrates the process of removing and installing a BOSS N1 Card Carrier and M.2 SSD in a PowerEdge C6620.
In this video, we show how to replace an M.2 SSD module on a PowerEdge C6620.
Before moving an end to SSD module, read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.
For more information about safety guidelines, see the C6620 Service Manual at Dell.com/Support. In order to remove an M.2 SSD module, you must first remove the air shroud and M.2 riser.
To remove the air shroud. Press the blue clip and lift it. Then disconnect the air shroud hook from the slot on the chassis and remove it.
To remove the M.2 riser, loosen the screw that secures the riser to the chassis. Then holding the blue tag, lift the riser to disengage the riser from the connector on the system board.
To remove the M.2 SSD module, remove the screw securing it to the M.2 riser. Then pull the SSD to disconnect it from the riser. To install an M.2 SSD module, align and insert it at an angle with the connector on the M.2 riser until fully seated.
Then tighten the screw that secures the SSD to the riser. To install the M.2 riser align it with the stand off on the system board and insert until the riser is fully seated.
Then tighten the screw the secures it to the chassis. To install the air shroud, insert the hook on the slot on the chassis. Then lower the air shroud until the blue clip locks into place.
