Welcome to the Unity 25-Drive DAE Power Supply Replacement Demonstration. For more detailed instructions, always refer to the applicable procedure on support.EMC.com. To begin we’re going to log in to Unisphere using the Admin account. As we can see on the Unity Dashboard, in the System Health window, there is a hardware issue reported. Click the Hardware icon to view more details. This brings us to the System View page.
Here we can see the Disk Array Enclosure or DAE Power Supply B0 needs attention. Let’s click on it for more information. Now we can see where Power Supply B in the DAE is located. We can also take a look at the Alerts page to confirm the problem. Here we see three alerts generated from this DAE power supply fault. Now that we have Identified the power supply, let’s begin the replacement procedure.
To remove the faulty power supply from the DAE, begin by rotating the power cord retention bail to the right, and then disconnect the AC power cord from the power supply. Press the orange handle button to release the latch. Pull the latch outward and then remove the power supply / cooling module from its slot.
Note that to protect a running system from overheating, the enclosure times out unless you replace the power / cooling module within two minutes. Gently insert the replacement power supply into the enclosure, and press the latch in to secure it to the enclosure.
Connect the AC power cord to the power supply, and secure the cord with a retention bail. The power supply fault LED turns off after about two seconds. Now that we’ve completed the replacement procedure, let’s log back in to Unisphere to check the status. Begin by navigating to the System View. Click on the Enclosures tab and then select the DAE. Here we can see that the replaced power supply is now operating normally.
Now let’s check the Alerts page. Here we can see the alerts associated with this procedure. We see the original three power supply alerts, as well as four new ones, with the last one indicating the storage system is now operating normally To complete the replacement tasks we’re going to acknowledge all the alerts associated with this procedure.
