When it's time to change the imaging unit, your printer will alert you with a message on the screen. Here’s how to change the imaging unit on your Dell S5840cdn Laser printer. Pull up on the handle to open the right-side cover. Then, slide the lock lever to the right and pull down on the lower right-side cover.
Remove the waste toner bin. Lift up the blue lock levers and pull the imaging kit out. Then, lift the imaging kit using the blue handles. Press the blue button and remove the black toner cartridge. Unlock the black imaging unit and lift it straight up. Unpack the new imaging unit and be sure to remove all packing materials.
Insert the new imaging unit and lock it into place. Install the black toner cartridge. Then, slide the imaging kit back into the printer and lock it into place. Insert the waste toner bottles and close the right-side covers. For information on recycling old imaging units, go to dell.com/recycling. For help with anything else, go to dell.com/support.
