In this video, you'll learn how to perform a VX rail day one cluster deployment using the VX rail deployment wizard with AJ SU file created by using the VX L configuration portal. In the VX L configuration portal, you created a cluster configuration by associating the configuration with an existing project and defining the cluster settings.
The output from configuring the cluster in the V XL configuration portal is the JSON file that contains the cluster configuration parameters that will be applied to the physical V XL hardware. For more information about generating a JSON file, see the configure V XL cluster using the V XL configuration portal video available in the getting started tab of the V XL configuration portal ensure that V XL deployment is performed only by qualified and experienced personnel.
Note before beginning to deploy VX rail carefully review all planning material. It is critical to understand the V XL cluster requirements and options before configuring your cluster to begin the process of deploying a cluster to a client workstation that has network access to the subnet to which the V XL management network is attached, start the command line interface and enter the default V XL manager IP address.
The default IP address is 192.168 0.10 0.200. A successful ping implies that the VXR manager VM is started and accessible by the web browser.
For cluster deployment purposes, start a web browser and enter the default VX roll manager IP address 192.168 0.10 0.200 in the welcome screen section of the deployment wizard, click get started under end user license agreement, read through the agreement, select the accept check box and then click next under cluster type.
Select the cluster type for this demonstration. Let us deploy a standard V XL cluster consisting of 3 to 6 nodes by using a storage type of standard BC. Click next under resources, select the product serial number or PSNT of the ESX host that will be added to the cluster and then click next under network confirmation.
Select both the check boxes to indicate that VX L tor switches and VX rail management V line have been configured as per of the defined practices. Click next under configuration method, select the upload a configuration file option and then click upload browse through the folder where the JSON configuration file is saved, select the file and click open after the JSON file is uploaded.
Click next, ensure the correct data is entered or selected in the global settings in V DS setting sections in the V center server settings. Host settings, VX manager settings and virtual network setting sections, enter or select data. Also in these sections ensure that you enter strong passwords for parameters such as root and admin level passwords.
To view the characters that you have used in your password and click the I symbol for information about characters permitted to form a strong password view, the context sensitive online help information by clicking the question mark symbol in the upper right corner of the page under validate configuration, click validate configuration two validate the configuration settings.
If any issues are reported, go back to the appropriate section, edit the data and then rerun the validation. The validation process is started and may take several minutes to validate the data. The status bar indicates the level of completion of the validation process.
A message is displayed indicating that the V XL cluster is successfully configured if necessary, download a copy of the configuration file, then click next click, apply configuration.
The configuration is applied to view the status of application expand, show details to manage the V XL cluster by using VCENTER click launch, VCENTER click launch Vsphere client on the VM ware vsphere log in page log in by entering the credentials you previously configured, enter administrator at vsphere dot local as the user name and click log in.
Congratulations. You've successfully deployed your VX rail cluster. Remember to install the appropriate licenses configure call home and then clear any warnings as appropriate for more information about VX rail visit dell dot com forward slash support.
