In order to remove a heat sink and CPU you must first remove the cover and air shroud to remove the cover. Use a screwdriver to rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlocked position. Next, lift the release latch until the system cover slides back.
Then lift the cover from the system to remove the air shroud, hold the edges of the air shroud and lift it out of the system to remove a heat sink loosen the captive screws in reverse order using a torque screwdriver, then lift it away from the system to remove ac pu loosen the screw to release a retention frame and lift it, then lift the rail frame by the blue latches, holding the handle of the processor tray, slide it out of the rail frame to install ac pu holding the handle on the processor tray, slide it into the rail frame until firmly seated.
Push the rail frame down until the blue latches lock into place, lower the retention frame into place and tighten the captive screw to secure the CPU in place. Note, apply thermal grease to the processor before installing the heat sink.
However, if you're installing a new heat sink, this won't be necessary as thermal pace will already be applied on it to install the heat sink, align it with the standoff screws on the system board, then tighten the captive screws in numerical order to secure it to the system board to install the air shroud, align the slot on the air shroud with the standoff on the system, then lower into the system until it is firmly seated to install the cover, align the system cover with the guide slots on the system and place it onto the system.
