Hello and welcome to this Dell Power Protect Data Manager appliance video showcasing how easy it is to deploy the Power Protect DM5500. Power Protect DM5500 is an integrated data protection appliance that offers powerful and secure protection of modern workloads, all designed with the end user in mind with visual views and one user interface. The DM5500 also has flexible and reliable upgrades, health and reporting, a single license model based on back-end usable capacity from 12 terabytes to 96 terabytes in 12-terabyte increments, and can be expanded to 256 TB with expansion disk shelves.
Now, let's get into the demo of the Dell Power Protect DM5500 deployment process. To log into the Power Protect Data Manager appliance UI, we start by opening a Chrome browser and entering the appliance's private IP. The login user is ""admin,"" and the initial password is ""DM@PSNT."" The PSNT product serial number can be found on the luggage tag at the back of the server. After we log in, we start entering the required configuration info to set up the system on the network. First, we enter the current password and the new password. We can select the little ""eye"" icon to see what we've entered for each password. We can also hover over the blue text to see the helpful info displayed about that entry point. After entering the passwords, we click the ""Next"" button and go to the next page where the log can be seen and accepted on the network configuration page. We enter the required network info for the environment in which the DM5500 is being deployed.
Only one management IP address and two data IP addresses are needed. The management and data traffic can be separated on two different networks if required. The management IP needs to be in DNS for forward and reverse lookup. On the time and location page, we enter the required appliance location, time zone, and at least one primary NTP IP address. On the next page, the iDRAC (Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller) read-only user requires a username and password. We can also set up the optional iDRAC network settings here, including the IP subnet mask and gateway. We can either set these up now or after deploying the appliance. On the summary page, we can check the information we've entered. When we're finished, we click ""Apply.""
We can now monitor the configuration progress as the system performs pre-checks and network assignments. When the configuration progress is complete, we select ""Continue"" to redirect to the external network IP address. We then log into the appliance user interface as admin using the password we set previously. On the ""Get Started"" page, we can optionally perform operations such as uploading a permanent license, setting up email, selecting asset types, and creating a security user. These operations can also be performed on the appliance's user interface dashboard.
