What's bluetooth? Simply put, bluetooth is a wireless technology that allows devices like laptops, PCs, printers, digital cameras, video came consoles and even mobile phones like this one to connect and exchange information.
I love my jawbone with noise canceling, now I can talk on the phone without using my hands and you thought people walking around with these things sticking out of their ears were just Star Trek fans. Well, a lot of us are.
But anyway, so for things like keyboards, a mouse and a desktop, what bluetooth offers is a cable replacement technology. Wwwwaaawwwwaaawoooo. See, no cables. A chip that is installed in the device sends and receives information normally carried by a cable.
However, the catch is that this operates on a short range radiofrequency and works within about a 30-foot radius. So how do you make these devices work? All you have to do is pair a device together. Like this headset and this phone. Once that's done, it's a pretty seamless process.
Dell is taking advantage of this cool technology now and in the future as customers want to cut free of the wired tangled mess. Who knows where bluetooth technology will take us.
Some day you might have your computer talking to your fridge or your stovetops, talk about the multi-tasking opportunities, I could burn DVDs and dinner at the same time. For more information on bluetooth, please visit this link.
