This video will cover: Where to find the current list of supported operating systems for Carbon Black Sensors. Where to download the sensor. Installing the sensor. And support information.
In this video, you may see some options that are not present on your VMware Carbon Black console. The available options are determined by the services your organization has purchased.
From the Carbon Black console, navigate to the "Endpoints" menu, select the "Sensor Options" dropdown list and choose "Download Sensor Kits". The "Download Sensor Kits" window contains all current installers for download.
The "Sensor Kit" column shows supported operating systems for each installer type. A link to the "Sensor Installation Guide" is also available.
In the "Version" column older versions of sensors can be obtained by selecting the version in the dropdown list. For additional information about Carbon Black Endpoint Sensor System requirements, refer to the Dell Support Knowledge Base Article link shown on screen.
Sensors can be installed via two different methods: End User Interactive Installation, the manual process or Unattended Installation. For End User Interactive installation, from the "Endpoints" section, go to the "Sensor Options" dropdown and select "Send installation request".
In the "Send Installation Request" window, you will fill out the user's first name, last name, and their email address. Then click "Send". The user will receive an email with the Installer download link and a unique activation code.
This code will expire after one week. Here is a sample of the email the end user will receive. Unattended Installation is a scripted method of installation that does not require user interaction.
You will need two items to complete this: the appropriate sensor kit and your organization's company registration code. Your company registration code can be found under the "Endpoints" section in the "Sensor Options" dropdown, "Company Codes".
With the appropriate sensor kit and your company's registration code, you can deploy an unattended installation using a system management tool like "SCCM" or "Workspace One".
