It's a handheld, ink-free mobile photo printer that provides instant enjoyment as you skip the wait and print out pictures wherever you may be -- in class, hanging out with friends, at a game, or even at a club. You can print from mobile phones, bluetooth devices, or digital cameras.
No wait, no cords, and no setup hassles. Just snap, send, and share. The best way to use Wasabi is via bluetooth, but if your device doesn't support bluetooth, you can plug in via Pic Bridge. As you look into Wasabi, I suggest you verify with your mobile device manufacturer what bluetooth technology is supported. Wasabi uses bluetooth 2.0 FDP, BPP, DIP, and OPP. Now, let me show you how easy this is.
First, load the provided zinc paper into Wasabi by pressing down on the latch with the unlock sign. The paper should load shiny side up, and it can only hold 12 at a time. Make sure to include the blue zinc smart sheet at the bottom of the stack because it will help calibrate and clean the printer head. Snap the lid closed. And turn on Wasabi. Take a look at the transparent cover and notice the battery sign on the left-hand side as well as the frowny face and the smiley face emoticons on the right-hand side. When you turn on your handheld printer, you should see the smiley face emoticon.
I'm going to print from my Blackberry, so I'm going to make sure the bluetooth is on. On this device, I go to Manage Connections, click Bluetooth on, and then scroll down to click Set Up Bluetooth. At this point, you'll see it searching for a new device. Here we see a list of devices, and Wasabi is showing up as Dell PZ310. I'm going to click on it to complete the pairing process, where we get both devices talking to each other. If and when you're asked for a code, enter the default pass key 0000.
Now we get a message confirming the connection. Here comes the fun part. Go to the picture you want to print from your device. One point to remember, the printed photo is only as good as the picture you've taken. If your camera has very low resolution and low pixel quality, then your picture won't be the greatest as a printout.
Take into consideration lighting, composition, and resolution to optimize your print. I bring up the image, scroll down, and select to send via bluetooth. Now I choose the device, Dell PZ310, and at ta-dah, there goes the file transfer. The blinking smiley face emoticon means things are cranking away inside, and the photo will come out through this slot at the bottom. Huh, here we are.
And look, you don't have to worry about smudging it since it's inkless and doesn't need to dry. Inkless? Yeah, you heard right. The awesome crystal technology inside the zinc paper makes it so you never, ever, ever have to buy ink. No worries. This doesn't mean the photos will fade in time or that the quality will be poor. This little travel companion is capable of reproducing millions of vivid colors.
One more added bonus in my book is that the paper you're printing on is a sticky back. Just peel off the back and stick on to a folder, a locker, a wall, or a postcard or anywhere you desire. Okay. Let's say your friend wants a copy of the last photo in the Wasabi memory. There's no need to resend. Click the reprint button located next to the power button and voila, you've got a duplicate. But what if you're hanging with friends and one of them wants to send a picture to your little Wasabi? Easy, as long as they have the bluetooth 2.0 technology, they can immediately share and send their pics to you.
We've covered the bluetooth wireless option, my favorite, but you can also choose to print from a digital camera. Get the Pic Bridge port wire that came with your camera to set up a wired connection. Turn on your camera. And Wasabi. And send a picture to Wasabi for printing.
