This video shows how to remove and install the WWAN card on the Precision 7560 and Precision 7760. Before you begin, ensure that you create a recovery drive and back up all data.
Turn off your computer and disconnect all attached peripherals and if present remove the SD card. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer.
To begin, loosen the eight captive screws that secure the base cover to the computer. For computers shipped without a SmartCard reader, pry open the base cover starting from the recess at the bottom edge of the cover.
For models shipped with SmartCard reader, pry open the base cover from the SmartCard reader slot at the bottom right side of the base cover. Use your fingers to pry open the base cover as the use of plastic scribe or any other sharp objects may damage the base cover.
Lift the base cover starting from the bottom edge and push it towards the rear to remove it from the computer. Note: Do not lift the base cover directly upwards to remove, as this may damage the rear edge of the cover.
After removing the base cover, if any of the thermal pads for the M.2 SSD, WWAN card, and/or inner frame are detached, adhere them to their correct slot on the computer. Disconnect the battery cable.
Now let’s remove the WWAN card. Remove the screw that secures the WWAN card bracket to the system board. Now lift the WWAN card bracket from the WWAN card.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the connector on the WWAN card. Slide and remove the WWAN card from its slot on the system board.
Note: When replacing the system board, the sticker indicating the WWAN antenna cable connections must be relocated to the replacement system board.
You have successfully removed the WWAN. Now, let’s install the WWAN card. To begin, connect the antenna cables to the connectors on the WWAN card.
Follow the antenna-cable color scheme for the WWAN card of your computer as printed on the WWAN card slot. Align and slide the WWAN card to its slot on the system board. Now, place the WWAN card bracket above the WWAN card to secure the antenna cables.
Replace the screw to secure the WWAN card bracket to the system board. Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board. Re-install the base cover by aligning and placing the base cover on the computer.
Align the screw holes on the base cover with the screw holes on the computer chassis, and then snap the base cover into place. Now tighten the eight captive screws to secure the base cover to the computer. If present, insert the SD card into the SD card slot. You can now connect all the peripherals.
