In this video, we will demonstrate how to remove and install the hard drive.
Before removing the hard drive, read through the safety guidelines to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.
For more information about safety guidelines, see the Vostro 3888 Tower Service Manual at Dell.com/support. Before you begin, ensure you create a recovery drive and back up all data. Turn off your computer and disconnect all attached peripherals.
To get started, place the desktop on the side and loosen the two captive screws that secure the side cover to the computer. Slide the side cover towards the back of the chassis and lift it off the system.
Now let’s remove the hard drive. disconnect the data cable and power cable from the connectors on the hard drive. To remove the HDD from the assembly, press the release tabs on the hard drive bracket and slide the hard drive assembly out of the hard drive cage.
You have now successfully removed the hard drive. Now, let’s see how to install the hard drive. Align the hard drive at an angle with the hard drive slot on the computer.
Press the release tabs on the hard drive bracket to secure, and place the hard drive assembly into the slot on the computer until it secures firmly into the place and connect the data cable and power cable to the connectors on the hard drive.
To install the side cover, align the tabs on the side cover with the slots on the chassis and replace the side cover on the chassis. Slide the side cover towards the front of the unit and tighten the two captive screws to secure the side cover to the chassis.
