This video shows how to replace the hard drive on an Inspiron 3891. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data before removing the hard drive. Power off the computer, and disconnect all the attached peripherals. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer.
To begin Remove the two thumb screws that secure the left-side cover to the chassis. Hold the tab on the left-side cover and slide the cover towards the back of the computer. Remove the left-side cover from the chassis. Gently pry and release the front-cover tabs sequentially from the top. Rotate the front cover outward from the chassis. Remove the left-side cover from the chassis. Lay the computer with its left side facing up.
Disconnect the hard-drive power cable from the hard drive. Disconnect the hard-drive data cable from the hard drive. Remove the four screws that secure the hard drive to the chassis. Lift the hard drive out of the chassis. You have successfully removed the hard drive. Now, let’s install the hard drive. Place and hold the hard drive in its place on the chassis. Align the screw holes on the hard drive with the screw holes on the chassis.
Replace the four screws that secure the hard drive to the chassis. Connect the hard-drive data cable from the hard drive. Connect the hard-drive power cable from the hard drive. Place the computer in an upright position. Align and insert the front-cover tabs with the slots on the chassis. Rotate the front cover towards the chassis and snap it into place.
Align the tabs on the left-side cover with the slots on the chassis, And slide it towards the front of the computer. Replace the two thumb screws that secure the left-side cover to the chassis.
