How to Replace ODD for PowerEdge R350

Watch this video to learn how to remove and install the optical disk drive on the Dell EMC PowerEdge R350.

Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
Follow the procedure that is listed in Before working inside your system.
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet, and disconnect the peripherals.
Remove the system cover.
Remove the front bezel.
Disconnect the power and data cables from the optical drive.
NOTE: Ensure that you note the routing of the power and data cable as you remove them from the system board and drive.

Removing the optical drive:
To release the optical drive, press and push the release tab toward the front of the system.
Slide the optical drive out of the system.

Installing the optical drive:
Align the optical drive with the optical drive slot on the system.
Slide the optical drive into the slot until the release tab snaps into place.

Connect the power cable and the data cable to the optical drive.
NOTE: Route the cables properly to prevent them from being pinched or crimped.
Install the front bezel.

Follow the procedure that is listed in After working inside your system.
Replace the system cover.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet, and then power on the system.
