In this video, we will demonstrate how to remove and install the hard-drive assembly on the OptiPlex 3090 and 7090 Ultra. Before removing the hard-drive assembly, read through the safety guidelines to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. For more information about safety guidelines, see the service manual at dell.com/support.
Before you begin, ensure that you turn off your computer and disconnect all attached peripherals. To begin, remove the screw that secures the hard-drive assembly to the chassis. Turn the hard-drive assembly to access the hard-drive cable. Now, open the latch and disconnect the hard-drive cable from the connector on the system board.
Carefully un route the hard-drive cable from the routing guide on the chassis. Remove the hard-drive assembly from the chassis. Note: Observe the routing of the hard-drive cable inside the chassis as you remove them. Route the cable properly when you replace the component to prevent the cable from being pinched or crimped.
Now, let’s see how to install the hard-drive assembly. To begin, place the hard-drive assembly on the cover. Now, route the hard-drive cable through the routing guide on the chassis. Connect the hard-drive cable to the connector on the system board and close the latch to secure the cable.
Turn the hard-drive assembly module. Align the tabs on the hard-drive assembly with the slots on the chassis and the screw hole on the hard-drive assembly with the screw hole on the chassis. Now, replace the screw to secure the hard-drive assembly to the chassis. You have now successfully installed the hard-drive assembly. You can now connect all peripherals and turn on your computer.
