In this video, you will learn how to generate the access key and PIN required for the services plug-in to establish a secure connection and register the plugin to the Dell backend. Before you begin, ensure that you have created a business account with Dell. To create a business account, you need a valid business email address from your organization.
You cannot create a business account with generic email hosting service domains such as gmail.com or yahoo.com. To begin, log into OpenManage Enterprise with your credentials. From the plugins menu, select services and then click Site Health.
If the services plugin is not registered, a banner message is displayed. Click Register Now on the message. on the connectivity page, select Establish Services Connectivity to establish a secure connection with the Dell backend. If you do not want to establish a secure connection, unselect Enable Services connectivity. In which case it is not required to generate the access key and PIN.
You can go directly to the Contact Details page. Enter the Access Key and PIN. If you do not have the Access Key and PIN, click Generate. It redirects you to the Dell Support site page. Be sure to keep the Set Up and Configure Services Plugin wizard open. On the Dell support site page, Sign in using your Dell business account. On the Generate access key page, click Next.
Search for your site by the site ID, site name, or site location. You will now see a list of sites that are associated to your account, along with their site IDs and other relevant details.
Note the site ID for which you want to generate an access key and PIN. After making a note of the site ID, use your browser's back button to navigate back to the previous screen. Now enter the site ID and click Search. The sites that are associated with your business account are listed. Click the site ID for which you want to generate the access key and PIN.
Enter a four digit PIN and click Create My Access Key. An email will be sent to you with your access key and its expiration date. Here is an example of an access key email. Now return to the Set Up and Configure Services Pugin wizard on the OpenManage Enterprise Services instance and enter the access key and PIN. Click Next to connect securely to the Dell backend.
