How to Fix Sound Issues in Windows 7 In this video we will see some troubleshooting steps you can perform in case there is no sound from your computer.
Connect a pair of headphones and check if there is sound. This is to find out if the speakers on your computer are faulty. Click Start, and type 'troubleshooting'.
Open Troubleshooting. Click 'Troubleshoot Audio Playback' under Hardware and Sound. Click 'Advanced", and make sure there is a check against 'Play request automatically'. Click 'Next' to start the troubleshooting process. Select the device you want to troubleshoot, and click 'Next'.
The troubleshooter then identifies problems and attempts to fix them automatically. Close the troubleshooter once it is completed. If the audio troubleshooter does not fix the issue, run a hardware check on the speakers.
Restart the computer, and press 'F12' at the Dell logo screen. Select diagnostics, and press 'Enter'. The ePSA diagnostics run a complete check on the hardware on the system Press Esc to abort the diagnostics. Select 'Perform Quick Audio Check'.
If you don't hear sound during the test, the hardware could be faulty. If the diagnostics pass, you can try restoring your computer to an earlier time when there was sound.
Click 'Start', and type 'system restore'. Open System Restore and select a date in the past when your system was working fine. Restore the system to this date, and check if there is sound.
Additionally update the audio driver from Dell.com/support. Check if you have sound now. Thank you for watching!
