Connecting a keyboard to your DellCast device is normally as simple as plugging it in. We'll start with the normal procedure, then cover a few different tips to help troubleshoot any connection issues. Before you begin, you'll need the following A DellCast connected to a display A Dell Venue tablet A wired USB keyboard and USB mouse - or - a wireless keyboard and mouse. In some cases, you may also need to use a USB hub.
The DellCast has a full sized USB port in the rear of the device. For a wired keyboard, connect the keyboard to the USB port Most wired keyboards provide an integrated USB hub. Connect your mouse to the USB hub. In just a moment, your devices will be recognized.
The icons will turn from yellow to green. To connect a wireless keyboard and mouse, connect the USB dongle to the rear of the dellcast. Depending on your model, you may need to sync the keyboard and mouse. Refer to your keyboards user manual for specific instructions.
Once synced, your devices should be recognized. If your wired keyboard doesn't have an integrated USB hub, or your wireless keyboard and mouse require two dongles, you'll need to connect a USB hub to the Dellcast, then connect your devices to the hub.
Some models of keyboards and mice may require more power than the 150 miliamps the DellCast provides. Most keyboards provide a power rating on the Regulatory label on the bottom.
