Users can utilize Dell Peripheral Manager to personalize webcam settings and activate intelligent features to optimize performance. Whether you're on a work conference call, catching up with friends, or recording videos to share later. As with all of your connected and compatible Dell devices, Dell Peripheral Manager will alert you to any available firmware updates in the top right corner.
This can help enhance webcam performance, add features, and boost security. For easy, quick customization of your onscreen look, select from one of Dell's image presets Default, Warm, Vibrant, or Smooth. The warm setting provides a cozy vibe to your video by adding a warmer tone. Vibrant intensifies the color and vibrancy of your image. And smooth refines and softens your video set up. Default restores your camera image to its original settings, neutralizing any adjustments.
Under the Camera Control tab, toggle AI Auto Framing to track your movement and keep you at the center of the picture no matter where you move. When AI auto framing is enabled, you can adjust tracking sensitivity, framing size, and camera transition. Change your camera's field of view by selecting an angle. The narrow 65 degree angle is great for face to face conversations where you are the main subject.
The wider 78 degree angle keeps you as the main focal point but provides more context for your location. The widest 90 degree angle option is perfect for presenting objects or whiteboard content. You can also manually zoom in on your image and use the directional controls on your webcam feed to center the frame. Dell Peripheral Manager comes with autofocus enabled, meaning your webcam will intelligently shift focus as you move or present objects closer to the camera.
Turning off auto focus allows you to manually control your webcam’s focus. Under Priority, choose between exposure or frame rate prioritization. Selecting exposure will prioritize maintaining the ideal level of light, while selecting frame rate will prioritize video smoothness. The next setting in this tab is Prioritize External Webcam. When toggled on, your Dell external webcam will be the only webcam available for use, and all other webcams are disabled. When set to off, you have a choice of what camera to use when using applications such as Zoom and Teams.
In the Color and Image section, you'll find even more controls to customize your webcam’s image. Enable HDR and Auto White Balance to deliver true to life color in different lighting environments. Below those settings, use sliders to fine tune your webcam’s brightness, sharpness, contrast, and saturation settings. Under certain artificial lighting conditions, you may notice your webcam image flickering.
To reduce your camera's flicker, you can adjust your camera's power line frequency to 50 or 60Hz. Keep in mind that some settings, such as AI Auto Framing and HDR, can only be enabled if you are connected via USB 3.0. Under Presence Detection, you can enable your webcam’s proximity sensor. Enable and customize Walk Away Lock to keep your PC secure by automatically locking your screen when you are away. Toggle on Wake On Approach to quickly sign into your device using Windows Hello.
The Capture tab in Dell Peripheral Manager contains settings for video recording your computer. Here you can select your recording resolution and frame rate. You can also enable or disable a recording countdown and framing grid. Below these capture settings, you'll see where your media files are being saved.
