In this demo, we'll discuss patching Dell hardware. We'll go to the patch portal page. The first thing we may want to do is configure our proxy settings. Click on the proxy tab. And test our settings. And you want to set the FTP settings to use HTTP settings. Back to the getting started web part.
We'll download the dupe catalog. Select Dell FTP site option. And save changes. And we'll select a new schedule. And we'll just run now. And we can check the detail status by double clicking the task in the status web part. And back to the portal page. The next thing we want to do is to download the inventory collector. And we'll select the web URL option, although you can use local storage to download it from the SUUCD, and save changes and we'll set up a new schedule for that. And again, we'll just run that now. And check the details by double clicking on the task.
Now we actually want to download the dupe packages themselves. So we'll click the solution global software. And we'll click the select Dell FTP site option. And apply. Those are really one-time settings that you need to do to get patch set up. Now, as part of the patch process, we want to select the install Altiris agent link. And we'll select computer so we can add target computers. Filter the computers by typing in the name in the box.
Just add a computer we select here as a target. And then install the Altiris agent. And proceed with the install. And the progress can be checked by clicking the view installation status report there. Next thing is to run a compliance check. And we'll run a quick run. Run that now.
And choose a target from the drop-down. And select run. And then check the status by double clicking to get the details. And we want to check applicable updates by computers. And we click on the link for applicable updates by computers. Choose the latest applicable updates by computers for individual update. Report will show the latest available update and the update currently installed on the target.
And you can right click on an update and select stage and distribute. Then you can click create, and that will create the update task. Go to the stage and distribute page to check the status of the task. And that's where we'll find the detailed status, by double clicking on the task status in the task web part. See that one's pending. And for these, we ran these earlier. So that shows the completed status. And that's it for patch.
One other thing you can do to make note of is you can click on manage update and the update package, the Dell update package bundles can be managed using this interface. What you do is double click on the bundle, and you can see the individual updates that are included in that bundle. And then you can deploy the entire bundle using stage and distribute from that bundle option. And that concludes this patch demonstration.
