Hello.
I am a Domain Support Engineer in the Systems Management space here at Dell, and today we'll be covering the OMEVV - OpenManage Enterprise VMware for vCenter - plugin for integration with Update Manager Plugin. OpenManage Enterprise plug-in Update Manager brings Dell Repository Manager functionality to OpenManage Enterprise.
This allows you to create one or more catalog repositories to be used with OME or OMEVV. Specifically, the VMware Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) compliance or vSAN specific baselines. To learn more about UMP visit the product page at dell.com. OMEVV plugins must be installed in OpenManage Enterprise. OMEVV plug-in must be registered in vCenter. At least one host needs to be added to OMEVV inventory via vCenter, ‘Management Compliance’. Let's demonstrate the creation of a custom repository in OpenManage Enterprise.
We will go to ‘Plugins’, ‘Update Management’, ‘Repository’. We will click the ‘Create Repository’ option. We will provide a unique name, we'll call this one ‘ESXi’. We will go down to the ‘Base Catalog’ option and select ‘Index Catalog’ to see the ESXi and vSAN options. We'll select ‘Catalog Group’, we're going to select the ‘ESXi Catalog for Enterprise Servers’.
We will go ahead and select ‘Automatic’ so that the only interaction needed will be to resync from OMEVV plugin. Click ‘Next’. We will select the devices, click ‘Next’, and this will be our catalog creation. Hit ‘Finish’. OK, that completes the creation of the custom repository ‘ESXi’. So now we will go to vCenter, the OMEVV dashboard, ‘Compliance & Deployment’ and ‘Repository Profile’. So currently there are only the default catalog, which does come from OMEVV, so now we will resync the UMP default repo profiles, and this should be successful. We'll click ‘OK’ and then we need to refresh the screen. OK, and now we see our ‘ESXi’ custom repository created in vCenter.
That completes the video for the Update Manager Plug-in integration and thank you for watching.
