In this video, we show how to replace the front expansion card riser in a PowerEdge R670. In order to remove the expansion card riser, you first need to remove the cover and drive backplane cover. To remove the cover, rotate the lock counterclockwise to unlock it, lift the latch to release the cover, then remove it from the system.
To remove the drive blackplane cover, slide it towards the back of the system and remove. To remove the front expansion card riser, disconnect and unroute the data cables. After disconnecting the center cables, loosen the captive screw securing the retention bracket in place. Then lift the bracket to free the cables and finish unrouting the cables.
Loosen the captive screw, securing the riser and then slide it out of the system. To install the front expansion card riser. Align and slide it into the system, then tighten the captive screw to secure it in place. Route and connect the data cables, taking care to ensure not to damage them. Close the retention latch, and tighten the captive screw to secure the cables.
To install the backplane cover, align it on the system and slide it forward into place. To install the cover, align and place it on the system. Lower the latch, then rotate the lock clockwise to secure the cover. For more information or support about the PowerEdge R670, visit dell.com/Support.
