Welcome to Dell EMC Data Domain “how to” series.
How to generate a support bundle using Data Domain GUI. Reference: Dell EMC Knowledge Base Article number 476508. This video was created to show the steps to generate a support bundle on the Data Domain GUI.
Before you begin, a support bundle is a tar.gz file. It is usually requested by Dell EMC support team to troubleshoot issues. It is also a good practice to generate a support bundle before making any changes to the Data Domain configurations.
In the newer DD versions from DDOS 7.x we have the option to generate a mini support bundle. It is smaller in size and rules out older log files.
Let’s begin. Log in to the Data Domain GUI using admin or limited admin credentials. Click on “Maintenance” and then “Support.” Further, click on “SUPPORT BUNDLES.”
You can either choose to generate support bundle or mini support bundle depending on the requirement. Press “OK” to continue. Depending on the data collection it takes some time for the support-bundle generation.
In case it takes longer and you see a timeout error kindly wait for 10 to 15 minutes and refresh the page. A completed support bundle must have the extension.tar.gz.
If you see any other extension, it means that the support-bundle generation is not completed yet. After the successful completion of the file, you can click on it.
The download must start automatically. Once the download is completed, you may upload the support-bundle file to the Service Request or FTP link provided by the Dell EMC support engineer.
