This CRU demonstration shows replacing a DPE fan module in a VNXe. Covered in this demonstration is the removal of a faulty component and the installation of a replacement. For procedure details, you’ll need to reference the documentation. Shown here is a view of the back of my system.
Once identified, let’s go ahead and remove the faulty component. But, please note, for the purpose of demonstration, you see here I’m using an unracked system. First let’s pinch the tabs on the fan module, and go ahead and take it out.
Next we’ll install the new fan module, and we’ll start by aligning the new module with the empty fan module slot, and go ahead and push it in. And you should hear it click when it’s completely seated. That concludes the demonstration. Next you can go to the System Health page in Unisphere and ensure that the part is marked with the ‘Status OK’ icon.
