This video shows how to replace the expander board on a PowerEdge XE7100. Before you begin, power off the system and disconnect all attached peripherals. To begin, first loosen the blue thumbscrew on the front of the system.
Then pull the expander module handle and slide the module out of the enclosure. To remove the expander board, you must first remove all the drives the backplane and then the bracket from the module. Starting with the backplane, disconnect the power cable. Remove the screws. Then lift the backplane out of the module. For the bracket, remove the screws. And lift it out of the module. And then, remove the PERC riser cables.
For the expander board, first remove the screws. Then, slide and lift the board out of the module. To replace the expander board, first insert and slide it into the module. And tighten the screws. Then, reconnect the PERC riser cables. Next, insert the bracket into the module and tighten the screws. For the backplane, insert it firmly until it is fully seated. Tighten the screws. Then reconnect the power cables to the backplane.
