This tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to remove and install the optical drive on an Inspiron 3030 Desktop/Vostro 3030 Desktop.

In this video, we demonstrate how to replace the Optical Drive in an Inspiron or Vostro 3030 Desktop Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. Turn off your computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals.
To begin, loosen the screws that secure the left-side cover to the chassis. Holding the tab on the cover, slide and remove it from the chassis. Gently pry and release the tabs that secure the front cover from the chassis. Then, lift it away from the chassis. Place the computer horizontally. Then, disconnect the power and data cable from the optical drive.
Next, remove the screw that secures the optical drive to the optical-drive cage. Now, lift and slide the drive out of the cage. Next, insert the pointed end of a pin-tool into the emergency eject pinhole to eject the drive tray. Then, use your thumb to push out and unlock the first securing tab of the optical-drive bezel. Now, gently pull the bezel to release the two remaining securing tabs.
To install the optical drive, align the bezel with the drive and snap it into place Then, slide the optical drive into the optical-drive cage. Next, replace the screws to secure it to the cage. Connect the power and data cable to the drive. Then, route the cable through the routing guides on the cage. Place the computer vertically.
Next, align and insert the tabs on the front cover into the slots on the right side of the chassis. Then, rotate it towards the chassis and snap the tabs into place.
