This video shows how to install three and a half inch storage drives on Unity disk array enclosures with a 15-drive capacity. Before you begin, remove the new drive from its packaging and set it aside on a static-free surface.
Next, remove the filler module from the slot where you want to install the new drive. To do this, grasp the drive filler with your finger in the cutout on the front and press down on the top of the filler.
Then pull the module out of the enclosure. Now you can install the new drive. Align the new drive with the guides in the empty drive slot. And ensure that the ejector handle on the drive is open.
Gently push the drive into the empty slot. Finally push the handle down until it is seated firmly. And finally in Unisphere, verify that the 3.5-inch drive appears with OK status in the enclosure view.
This completes the process of adding a 3.5 inch storage drive. For more information on adding or replacing other components of the Dell EMC Unity system go to the Dell EMC Unity Technical documentation page using the link in the description for this video.
