This video shows how to add a 15 drive disk array enclosure or DAE to an existing rack mounted unity system. Unity D AES provide expanded storage capacity for unity storage systems before you begin, ensure that you always wear proper electrostatic discharge or ESD protection. When servicing the system to begin this process, first install the rails in the rack. Next mount the DAE into the rack lift, the DAE from the front of the rack and carefully slide it into the installed rails. Then use the force supplied screws to loosely fasten it to the front of the rack.
When all four screws are secured in place, firmly tighten each one. If the DAE discs were shipped separately from the enclosure, you can install them in the enclosure. Now us provided mini SA HD expansion cables to connect the DAE to the unity system. There are several cabling options that are described in the unity documentation. This video demonstrates one of the most common cabling options from the rear of the rack, connect a cable from the port zero connector on SP A of the unity system to the port A connector on LCC A of the DAE enclosure then connect the cable from the port zero connector of S PB of the unity system to the port A connector on LCCB of the DAE enclosure, then plug in an AC or DC cord into the appropriate power connector on the DAE module, securing the power cord with a corresponding clips on the back of the DA A enclosure.
When your DAE enclosure is installed cabled and powered on use unisphere to validate that the DAE is connected to unity. After logging into Unisphere, check for the new DAE in the enclosures view and verify the status is shown as OK, you've just installed and configured your new DAE for more information on adding or replacing other components of a Dell E MC Unity system, go to the Dell E MC Unity technical documentation page using the link in the description for this video.
