In this video, we'll demonstrate how to remove and install the SIM Card on a Chromebook 3100 Note, the following steps are applicable only for 4G LTE enabled systems. Before removing the SIM card, read through the safety guidelines, to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.
For more information about safety guidelines, see the Service Manual at Dell.com/Support. Before you begin, ensure that you turn off your computer and disconnect all attached peripherals. Loosen the nine captive screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Then, with the help of a plastic scribe, pry open the base cover from the upper left side and continue working your way around the left and right side of the base cover. Once free, lift and remove the base cover from the system. Now, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
To remove the SIM card, gently press the SIM card to release it from the SIM card slot. Do not press the SIM card connector. Now, slide the SIM card out from the slot on the system board. You've successfully removed the SIM card. Now, let's see how to install the SIM card.
To begin, align the SIM card parallel to the system board and slide the SIM card carefully into the SIM card slot. Gently press the SIM card until it clicks into place. Again, do not press the SIM card connector. Now, connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Align the base cover to the system and snap the base cover latches into place. Then, tighten the nine captive screws to secure the base cover to the system. You've now successfully installed the SIM card.
