In this video, we'll show how to install the nano server mounted through virtual media in the bios on Dell's 13th generation Power Age systems. If you have the Microsoft Windows 2016 operating system DVD media, you can insert the DVD into the Dell Power Age system and start installing the OS before you begin, ensure that you have the nano server win file in the USB flash drive that is connected to your system to create the nano server image, go to technet dot Microsoft dot com and search for the article entitled deploy nano server to begin the process.
Turn on the system, you can mount the windows 2016 OS from a shared location or locally by using the following steps, click virtual media and then click connect virtual media. The initializing connection dialog box is displayed now click virtual media and then click map CD DVD to map the device in the dialog box. Click browse to select the Microsoft Windows 2016 ISO image and then click map device. Now connect the USB flash drive that contains the nano server Wim file that was created in the previous step again.
Click virtual media and then click map removable disk in the dialog box. The connected USB flash drive is displayed, click map device again, click virtual media to verify that both the connected CD DVT and removal drives are mapped. Now press F 11 to go to the boot manager. Page, click one shot bio spook menu and then select virtual optical drive.
The files are now loading, select the language is English, click next and then click install now on the windows, set up screen, press shift F 10 to open the command line interface and then enter the following commands, disk part dot EXC and press enter select disk zero and press enter clean and press enter, convert MBR and press enter, create partition, primary size equals 300 press enter format quick FS equals NTFS label equals system and then press enter a signed letter equals S and press enter active and press center create partition, primary press enter format quick FS equals NTFS label equals nano server.
And press enter, assigned letter equals in and press enter list volume and press enter exit and press center. See colon and press enter, dir and press enter dism dot exc forward slash apply dash image forward slash image file colon dot backslash nano dash 1 4 3 6 1 dash host dash DC dot Wim forward slash index, colon, one forward slash apply DIR colon in colon backslash and press enter your nano server.
Wim file name might be different than the one mentioned in this video. So use the name that you have assigned to it at this point. The image starts deploying after the operation is completed, successfully enter X colon and then run B CD boot dot exc in colon, backslash windows forward slash S S colon and press enter the boot files are created successfully.
Next, enter W pe util reboot the system now reboots into the NANO server. Meanwhile disconnect both the connected virtual medias and type the user name and password.
