Dell has changed the SupportAssist enablement process beginning April 03, 2023 by enabling the access key at the factory. Administrators who buy PowerVault ME5 systems after this date are not required to generate an Access key and PIN to authenticate the initial connection to the Dell endpoint used by SupportAssist. Systems shipped prior to this date must generate and enter the access key and PIN to make the SupportAssist connection to the Dell endpoint.
Hi there. In this video, we'll have a look at how to generate an access key and pin to enable support assist on Power Vault ME5 models. Please note that models created after April 3rd, 2023 have an access key enabled at the factory by default. To begin, navigate to the Dell support page at Dell.com/support.
To generate an access key, you'll have to be logged in via a Dell Business account, which is shown by a black check mark next to your name. If this isn't the case, please check the link in the description below regarding upgrading your Dell account. Assuming you're logged in correctly, type the product service tag in the search box shown on the homepage and click search.
At your products overview page under the Quick Links section on the right of the page, click on generate access key. If the product and tag matches correctly, click on next. Create a 4 digit pin, one that you'll remember, and click on create my access key. Your access key will now be created and will be automatically emailed to the email address registered on your login account.
Check your email and you should find an email like the example shown that contains your access key. You can now enable Support Assist and cloud IQ on your Power Vault ME5 using the Power Vault Manager. And that's it.
Thanks for watching.
