In this video, we show how to replace the M.2 2230 solid-state drive or SSD on an OptiPlex Micro 7020 or OptiPlex Micro Plus 7020 Before you begin, create a recovery drive and backup all data.
Turn off the computer after the data backup is complete, then disconnect all the attached peripherals. Also, ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. Loosen the thumb-screw that secures the side cover to the chassis.
Slide and lift the cover off the chassis. Locate the M.2 2230 SSD on the computer. Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the system board, then lift and slide it out from the slot. Now, let’s install the M.2 2230 SSD.
Align the notch on the SSD with a tab on the SSD slot and slide it in. Then, replace the SSD screw to secure the drive to the system board. Align the side cover on the chassis. and slide in the cover. Then, tighten the thumb screw to secure the cover to the chassis.
