Welcome to Dell Technologies RecoverPoint Break/Fix Series. Error: Cluster is a candidate to change its security level. Reference Dell Knowledge Article number 171113.
This video was created to: Provide a clear procedure to set a uniform security level for all RPAs in the environment. After a change in the environment such as a change to security settings, IP changes, upgrade, or repository volume change, clusters fail to communicate and you need to adjust the security level.
The errors illustrated will be present. This video presents the following: A demonstration of the error when checking the system status. Procedure on how to identify conflicting security settings on RecoverPoint Appliances.
Procedure to reboot the identified RecoverPoint Appliance with conflicting security setting. Before you begin: Make sure you have SSH connection to all RPAs with BOXMGMT credentials.
Have the script as per the KB article at hand. Demonstration: when logged in and checking system status, the error will be present under System problems as shown.
Log in as Admin user, run the command get_system_status. Select option 1 for System and press Enter for default output. Log in to each RPA as BOXMGMT user.
Type 2: setup. 8: advanced options. 4: run script. The script will generate the output as shown. It will be either 012 as security setting, or 100, 101, or 102 which is a temporary state indicating a change is being attempted.
Using the same process on each RPA, locate the RPA which has a conflicting security setting. This RPA is set to security level two. Return to the main menu and reboot the RPA which has conflicting security setting.
From Main menu navigate to 5: shutdown/reboot operations. 1: reboot RPA. Important notes: If rebooting more than one RPA, make sure to reboot one RPA at a time and let the RPA come back online before proceeding to the next appliance.
The security levels of the RPAs will be: 0: non-secure; 1: authenticate; two: encrypt; or in temporary state while change is being attempted.
Reboot the RPA with conflicting result to the others. Thank you for watching.
