Having issues logging in to Windows? Don't remember how to reset your Windows 10 password? Keep watching to learn how to reset it. Passwords are great at keeping people out of your information, but if anyone can change your password, it's not very secure.
Microsoft offers two methods for resetting your password: a Microsoft online account reset, or using a computer administrator account. If you have connected your Windows account to your Microsoft account, you can easily reset it online. Log on to Microsoft's "Reset your password" page from an alternate computer.
Click on "I forgot my password", and then click on the "Next" button. Type your Microsoft account name and the characters displayed on your screen in the relevant fields.
Click "Next". Select the way you would like to receive your security code for resetting your password. For security, you must complete the hidden part of either the email address or the phone number where you would like to receive the security code. Click on "Send code".
Once received, enter the security code in the text box and click "Next". Your password is now reset. You should now be able to log on to Windows with your new password. If you did not create a Microsoft account, you'll need a local administrator to reset your account.
For users not on a network, the first account created on the computer is the administrator by default. If one or more of the accounts can still log in, check to see if they have administrator privileges. Search for user accounts in the Cortana search box. Open the "User Accounts" window.
Click the "Manage another account" link. Select the user account you wish to edit. Click on "Change the password" and set a new password for the account. You should now be able to log in to your account with the new password. If you are unable to log in to a valid administrator account on the system, unfortunately there are no other options available at this time.
You'll need to reinstall Windows. For more information on using Windows 10, visit Dell.com/Support/Windows10 or contact us at Facebook.com/Dell, or @DellCares on Twitter.
