In this video, we'll show you how to unbox and set up your Dell Active Pen. Before you begin, on the back side of the box, you'll find the PPID number.
This number is used for registering your pen at dell.com/support/warranty. Now, let's begin. First, cut the seal and open the box. Then, slide out the tray to access the Active Pen components and documents.
Inside the box, you'll find a Dell Active Pen, an AAAA battery, two coin-cell batteries, a lanyard cable, a Warranty, Safety, and Regulatory document, and the Quick Start Guide.
Before using the pen, you need to install the batteries. To do this, twist off the top of the pen by rotating it counter-clockwise. Insert a small coin into the slot on the coin-cell battery holder.
Then, twist it counter-clockwise to unlock it. Loosen the coin-cell battery holder with your fingers until you can remove it completely from the top of the pen.
Then, remove the black plastic holder from the coin-cell battery holder. Stack the supplied coin-cell batteries positive side up. Then, place the plastic holder over them.
Insert the plastic holder back into the coin-cell battery holder. Now, place the top part of the pen onto the coin-cell battery holder. Twist the coin-cell battery holder clockwise to secure it to the top of the pen.
Insert a small coin into the coin-cell battery holder and twist it clockwise to lock it to the top of the pen. After securing the coin-cell batteries, slide the AAAA battery into the bottom of the pen with the positive side pointing toward the pen tip.
Place the top of the pen onto the bottom and twist it clockwise to tighten. Now, you're ready to pair the Dell Active Pen with your computer using Bluetooth.
On your computer, open the "Bluetooth and other devices settings" window. If Bluetooth is turned off, turn it on. Then, click "Add Bluetooth or other device", followed by "Bluetooth".
On the pen, enable pairing mode. To do this, press and hold the top button on the pen for 3.5 seconds. The Bluetooth pairing light blinks to confirm that pairing mode is enabled.
Now, select the "Dell PN557W Pen" from the list in Windows to complete the pairing process. To use the Dell Active Pen, hold it like you would a regular pen or pencil. However, hold the pen in a way as not to accidentally press the barrel button while working.
