In this video we will demonstrate how to remove the keyboard. Before removing the keyboard read through the safety guidelines to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.
Before you begin ensure that you turn off your computer and all attached peripherals. Remove the base cover, battery and hard drive. Now, let’s remove the keyboard.
To begin with, peel the tape to access the keyboard cable and disconnect the keyboard cable from the touchpad board. Note: the number of cables to disconnect is based on the keyboard type.
Now, using a plastic scribe, pry the keyboard trim from the bottom and work along the top edge and remove it from the computer. Remove the six screws that secure the keyboard to the computer.
Then, gently lift and slide the keyboard to remove it from the computer. You’ve now successfully removed the keyboard. For more information see the Owner’s Manual document at dell.com/support.
