Welcome to networker.
How to videos how to recover data from the clone volume in reference to EMC support solution article EG 50811 This video demonstrates how to delete a volume from the network or media database and how to mark a volume as suspect in preparation for recovering data from a cloned volume in the networker environment.
Sometimes we have a requirement of recovering data from the cloned volume. When recovering cloned save sets, networker software always looks for the original volumes. By default, the volumes required for a save set recovery appear in the required volumes window before recovering data from clone volumes.
One of the following must be done. The original save sets where the volume must be removed from the media database or the original save sets where the volume must be marked as suspect in the network or administration tool. Now, we will see how to remove original saves sets from the media database.
In preparation to recover data from a cloned volume, go to the command line of the network or server. We can manually remove all references of the original volume from the media database by the NSRMM command. Or we can make the save set as suspect in the original volume.
Here, we will see how to remove the original volume from the media database by the NSRMM command, run NS RMM hype and D volume name. This will delete the volume from the media database. Once you run the NSR mm hyphen D volume name, the system will prompt you with a message, delete file and media index entries for the volume name type. Yes, to delete the volume entry from the media database.
Now we will see how to mark the saves set, suspect in particular. So that during recovery networker will rebuild cloned volumes marked as suspect click media, select tape volumes in the left hand pane select the volume which contains the save set that needs to be marked as suspect.
Right, click the volume and select show save sets, show saves set will display the save set on the particular volume, select the save set which needs to be marked as suspect click change status by default. The status of the save set is normal, select suspect and press OK? That makes the same set as suspect.
The save set is marked as suspect during recovery networker will look for the clone volume. You have seen how to recover data from a clone tape.
