In this video, we’ll show how to replace the solid state drive, or SSD, in an Inspiron 14 Plus 7441. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. Then, turn off the computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals. Begin by removing the five screws and then loosen the two captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Remember to remove the non-captive screws first to create the gap for prying the base cover off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Now, using your fingers, gently pry open the base cover, starting from the recesses near the hinges. Continue prying along the other sides to release the base cover and remove it. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board. And turn the computer over and open the display Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to ground the computer and drain the flea power. Turn the computer back over.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD bracket and SSD to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Slide and remove the SSD bracket from its slot on the system board. Slide and remove the SSD from its slot on the system board. To install the SSD, align the notch on the SSD with the tab on the M.2 card slot and slide it in at an angle. Next, align the notch on the SSD bracket with the tab on the system board and slide it in at an angle.
Then, replace the screw to secure the SSD bracket to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Now, connect the battery cable to the system board. Align the base cover with the palm-rest and keyboard assembly and snap it into place. Tighten the two captive screws and then replace the five screws to secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
