In this video we will demonstrate how to remove and install the memory module.
Before removing the memory module, read through the safety guidelines to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.
For more information about safety guidelines, see the Precision 3440 Small Form Factor Service Manual at dell.com/support. Before you begin, ensure that you turn off your computer and disconnect all attached peripherals.
To get started, push the release latch down to unlock the side cover Using the tab on the side cover, slide and lift the side cover off the computer.
To remove the front bezel gently pry the retention tabs sequentially from the top to release the front bezel from the system You can now move the front bezel outward to remove it from the computer.
To remove the 2.5-inch hard-drive assembly disconnect the power and data cables from the connectors on the hard drive Now, press the release tabs on the hard-drive assembly and slide to disconnect it from the connector on the system board Now, lift the hard-drive assembly from the computer.
To remove the hard-drive and optical-drive module remove the power and data cable from recess on the release latch and unroute the cables from the retention clip on the hard-drive and optical-drive module.
Now, slide the release latch to the left to unlock the hard-drive and optical-drive module. Holding the release latch lift the hard-drive and optical-drive module and slide it out of the slot.
Disconnect the optical-drive power and data cable from the connectors on the optical drive. Now, let’s remove the memory module.
Using the fingertips carefully spread apart the securing-clips on each end of the memory-module slot You can now grasp the memory module near the securing-clips and gently ease the memory module out of the memory-module slot.
You have successfully removed the memory module. Now, let’s see how to install the memory module. To begin, you must align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the memory-module slot.
Now, insert the memory module into the memory-module connector until the memory module snaps in the place and the securing clips lock in place.
To install the hard-drive and optical-drive module connect the optical-drive power and data cable to the connectors on the optical drive Insert the tabs on the hard-drive and optical-drive module and lower into the slots on the chassis at an angle the hard-drive and optical-drive module into the slot.
Now, slide the release latch to the right, to lock the hard-drive and optical-drive module. Route the hard-drive power and data cable through the retention clip on the hard-drive and optical-drive module and then route the cables through the recess on the release latch.
To install the 2.5-inch hard-drive assembly align and place the hard-drive assembly into the slot on the computer Press down the hard-drive assembly, until it clicks into place Now, connect the power and data cables to the connectors on the hard drive.
To install the front bezel, you must align and insert the front-bezel tabs with the slots on the computer and then move the front bezel towards the computer until the retention tabs click into place.
To install the side cover align the tabs on the side cover with the slots on the computer and slide the side cover towards the front of the computer until the release latch locks the side cover.
