Before you begin, turn off the computer, and disconnect all the attached peripherals.
Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer.

In this video shows how to replace the M.2 2230 solid-state drive with a M.2 2230 solid-state drive in the M.2 solid-state drive assembly on Precision 7865 Tower.
Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data before removing the M.2 2280 solid-state drive. Power off the computer, and disconnect all the attached peripherals Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer.
To begin, push the M.2 solid-state drive assembly to release it from the PCIe flex bay. To remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive remove the 3 screws from the M.2 solid-state drive assembly.
Now, lift the cover from the M.2 solid-state drive assembly. Then, remove the M.2 extender from the M.2 solid-state drive assembly and slide the M.2 2230 solid-state drive from the connector on the M.2 solid-state drive assembly.
To install the M.2 2280 solid-state drive, align the notch on the solid-state drive with the tab on the M.2 solid-state drive assembly.
Now, insert the solid-state drive into the slot on the M.2 solid-state drive assembly. Now, align the screw holes on the cover with the screw holes on the M.2 solid-state drive assembly and replace the screws.
To remove the 2280 solid-state drive, remove the 3 screws from the M.2 solid-state drive assembly. Now, lift the cover from the M.2 solid-state drive assembly.
Then, slide and remove the M.2 2280 solid-state drive from the M.2 solid-state drive assembly. To install the M.2 2230 solid-state drive, align the notch on the solid-state drive with the tab on the M.2 solid-state drive assembly.
Now, insert the solid-state drive into the slot on the M.2 solid-state drive assembly. Then, align and place the M.2 extender into the M.2 solid-state drive assembly.
Now, align the screw holes on the cover with the screw holes on the M.2 solid-state drive assembly and replace the screws.
Now, insert and slide the M.2 solid-state drive assembly into the PCIe flex bay until it clicks into place. You can now connect all the peripherals.
