Is your PC running slower than usual or taking too much time to boot up?
You may be experiencing slow performance issues. In this video, we will walk you through the steps to get your computer back to running in tip-top shape.
Update the system BIOS.:
Now is the time to ensure your laptop is connected to the charger. This is required to complete the BIOS installation, so make sure that it is plugged into a reliable power source.
Windows search "Manage BitLocker" and select "Manage BitLocker". Click on "Suspend Protection" and then "Yes" to confirm.
Now, go to Dell.com/Support and click on "Detect PC" or enter your service tag.
Select "Drivers & Downloads". In the "Manually find a specific driver" section, expand "Find drivers", then select the proper operating system installed on the computer.
For the "Category" field, select "BIOS", and a list of results will be generated.
Download the latest update available and run the file.
Click on "Update" and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
BitLocker will be automatically enabled once the system restarts after updating the BIOS.
Update your drivers using Dell SupportAssist:
Windows search and select "SupportAssist" and open it.
Within the "Home" tab on the "Get Drivers & Downloads" tile, click on "Update".
SupportAssist will automatically show all the available updates.
Click on "Install" and follow the onscreen instructions.
Tune up your PC using SupportAssist:
Windows search and select "SupportAssist" and open it.
Within the "Home" tab on the "Tune Performance" tile, click on the "Run" button and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
Clean up your files using SupportAssist:
Within the "Home" tab on the "Clean Files" tile, click on "Run" and follow the onscreen instructions.
See if this helps improve your PC’s performance.
If it doesn’t, continue with the next step.
Run "System Diagnostics" for any hardware error:
Before you begin the ePSA diagnostic, make sure the power adapter is plugged into the system and keep it plugged in throughout the entire process.
Turn on or restart your system. When the Dell logo appears, repeatedly tap the "F12" key to enter the "One-Time Boot" menu.
Click on "Diagnostics". Then, follow the onscreen instructions to complete the diagnostics.
Note that you should not run the extended stress/memory test.
If a hardware error is detected, you will get an error code and a validation number.
Make note of both of those numbers and provide them to Dell Tech Support.
If the test produced no errors, then continue with the next step.
Make sure that there are no pending updates from Microsoft:
Windows search and select "Windows Update settings".
Click on "Check for updates" and install any available update.
If you’re having issues with Windows Update, you can run the "Windows Update Troubleshooter".
Windows search "Troubleshoot" and select "Troubleshoot settings".
Click on "Other Troubleshooters" and click "Run" next to Windows Update.
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
Check if the Windows update improves your system’s performance.
If the troubleshooter provides any errors, please reach out to Dell Tech Support for additional assistance. Thanks for watching.
